ISOP brings doctoral research into focus at Turbo Expo 2026 — ASME Turbo Expo 2026,…
ISOP contributes to the dialogue on future power systems at Turbo Expo 2025
ISOP partners and doctoral candidates contributed to ASME Turbo Expo 2025, held in Memphis on 16–20 June. Research contributions explored sCO₂ technology from complementary perspectives: Leonard Muke investigated the integration of gas turbines and sCO₂ cycles for offshore applications, while Babras Khan addressed hybrid sCO₂–ORC systems for waste heat recovery. Muhammad Nouman Saleem from Politecnico di Milano contributed a study of three-dimensional and unsteady flow in a multistage axial sCO₂ turbine, developed with Baker Hughes. Together, these works connected power cycle integration with the detailed understanding of component behaviour needed to advance the technology. Project coordinator David Sánchez also contributed to discussions on energy storage and decentralised energy systems, alongside ETN Global’s activities bringing researchers and industry together to address the challenges of the energy transition.
