ISOP partners bring research, industry and young talent together at Turbo Expo 2024

ISOP partners contributed to ASME Turbo Expo 2024, held in London on 24–28 June, through technical presentations, panel discussions and activities supporting young researchers. The programme began on Sunday with the “Career in Turbomachinery” panel, co-moderated by ETN Global’s Giuseppe Tilocca, bringing students together with professionals to explore career paths in the sector. ISOP coordinator Prof. David Sánchez presented the project in the panel “sCO₂ projects in the international community”, which also featured contributions from Politecnico di Milano and Baker Hughes. His other contributions covered international R&D projects on energy storage, CO₂-based storage systems and sCO₂ heat exchangers. ETN Global also moderated discussions on decarbonisation, international collaboration and future turbine technologies. Further highlights included Baker Hughes’ participation in the panel on commercial and pilot sCO₂ systems, Siemens Energy’s research on offshore power generation using sCO₂, and the University of Seville’s work on hydrogen-powered systems combining micro gas turbines and Organic Rankine Cycles for aviation applications.
